My new piece Boundaries (2018) for Jazz Ensemble will premiere. There are no chord changes written into the score. All improvisation is done through directed listening and embellishing of the given notes.

The Pitt Jazz Composers Concert will feature original compositions by Pitt faculty, students, staff, and alumni. All works will be performed by the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra.

The featured composers are:

Current graduate students Ben Barson, Jason Belcher, Samuel Boateng, Marco Giusto, Ryan McMasters, John Petrucelli, and Laura Schwartz; faculty members Ralph Guzzi, AJ Johnson, and Colter Harper; and alumni Joseph Lagnese and Rick Nowlin.

The Jazz Composers Concert is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s Office of Research, Office of Residence Life,
Humanities Center, and Department of Music.
